Seed Sowing Calendar for July

Seed Sowing Calendar for July

YOU CAN STILL START SEEDS IN JULY!

Most of the crops you'll start this month are in preparation for the FALL GARDEN, but there are some things that mature so fast, you'll be enjoying them in mid- to late-August!

The dates of this calendar, as well as my Seed Sowing Calendar for May and for June, are based on PLANTING ZONE 6A/5B for my area here in SW Michigan. If you are in a different planting zone, you can adjust the following dates by doing the following:

How to Adjust Dates to Your Hardiness Zone

To figure out sowing dates for your specific area and hardiness zone, find your FIRST FROST DATE, and then adjust these calendars using the difference between your first frost date and mine, which is generally estimated for October 8th.

So, for example, if your estimated first frost date is October 31st, you will add three weeks to the dates I've given because you have an extra three weeks of growth before the first frost appears.

If your first frost date is BEFORE my estimated frost date, then you will subtract that many weeks or days from the dates I've listed below.

If you're curious about my "year-round" Seed Sowing Practices, be sure and check out my May & June Seed Sowing Calendars for a more detailed explanation of how this way of planning can actually simplify your seed starting AND extend your growing and harvest seasons!
